FARM & FOREST PRESCHOOL is a part time, all-outdoor program hosted on the farm with a focus on learning about nature and animals. The farm preschool program incorporates developmentally appropriate nature-based learning for children 3-5 years old. The outdoor environment becomes a canvas for children to explore and learn about the natural sciences, mathematics, and literacy. Time playing outdoors builds cooperation and teamwork, inventiveness, creativity, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. We encourage children to be daring and adventurous, while learning how to care for each other and the natural world. We believe that all children benefit from spending a lot of time outdoors and with animals. Children are born fascinated by animals and nature, we believe it is our responsibility to allow them those opportunities for interaction.

FARM START is our farm and forest preschool program serving low income, un-housed, and recently sheltered children through our partnership with Family Support Center of South Sound. In this program children get valuable early learning experiences in our outdoor farm environment and their parents get time to focus on securing resources (housing, job, etc) to support their family.

Remember that this is a nearly entirely outdoor preschool. Be sure that you and your child are both okay with that. Dressing your child appropriately for outdoor play is critical to them enjoying their experience. We love the saying: There is no such thing as bad weather, only poor clothing choices.

We have cubbies for you to keep a full set of extra clothes on-site for your child. You will need to make sure you dress your children in clothes that can get dirty. In the winter we require all children to be dressed in full outdoor gear including waterproof boots, and a rain suit or rain pants and coat.
