FARM START is our farm and forest preschool program serving low income, un-housed, and recently sheltered children through our partnership with Family Support Center of South Sound. In this program children get valuable early learning experiences in our outdoor farm environment and their parents get time to focus on securing resources (housing, job, etc) to support their family.

The farm preschool program incorporates developmentally appropriate nature-based learning for children 3-6 years old. The outdoor environment becomes a canvas for children to explore and learn about the natural sciences, mathematics, and literacy. Time playing outdoors builds cooperation and teamwork, inventiveness, creativity, problem solving, and critical thinking skills. We encourage children to be daring and adventurous, while learning how to care for each other and the natural world. We believe that all children benefit from spending a lot of time outdoors and with animals. Children are born fascinated by animals and nature, we believe it is our responsibility to allow them those opportunities for interaction.

Today I have grown taller from walking with the trees.
